This story is part of our special 20th Anniversary Run for Your Life 5K video series, celebrating two decades of resilience, recovery, and community. Through the voices of Odyssey House alumni, clients, and staff, we’re sharing how running has transformed lives and strengthened the bonds that make recovery possible.

For Max, Run for Your Life is about more than fitness — it’s about belonging.

“Run for Your Life is a support network that encourages you and champions you no matter where you’re at. When one person succeeds, we all succeed, and that’s how we support each other. I want everyone to succeed so that way, the community succeeds as a whole.”

As an Odyssey House client and intern, Max experiences firsthand the strength of the community that Run for Your Life creates. The program offers not just miles on the road, but a network of encouragement and shared purpose that helps participants grow together.

Max’s story reminds us that recovery and success don’t happen alone — they happen through connection, teamwork, and mutual support.
