Season’s Greetings from Odyssey House

We wish you a happy, peaceful Holiday Season and a New Year full of joy, prosperity, and good health.

This year has brought unexpected challenges for all of us, and we thank you for the generosity and commitment you’ve shown us in these tough times. Your support has helped hundreds of New Yorkers in need to achieve a healthy, lasting recovery.

About the artist

This artwork is by Sheila O., a client in the Odyssey House ElderCare program. Sheila chose this image because “it makes me nostalgic for the holidays. I look forward to returning to the warm holiday glow of family, friends, and my cozy cats.”

Sheila began coloring because she found it eased her anxiety while living in a New York City shelter. Now that she is in a treatment program, she continues to use coloring as a coping mechanism. “I am grateful for a safe environment to recover from my substance abuse. Along with the supportive staff, the art program has been a great resource, allowing me to cope with my anxieties and express my creativity. After completing my treatment, I look forward to returning to a sober and safe home with my family.”
