This story is part of our special 20th Anniversary Run for Your Life 5K video series, celebrating two decades of resilience, recovery, and community. Through the voices of Odyssey House alumni, clients, and staff, we’re sharing how running has transformed lives and strengthened the bonds that make recovery possible.

For Frances, running was more than exercise — it was liberation and a turning point.

“When I run, I feel liberated. With every mile, I felt a little more free and like I was finally running towards something better. Running gave me confidence that I could do anything. I can do hard things.”

Frances, an Odyssey House graduate and Run for Your Life alum, now works as an Admissions Specialist at Odyssey House, helping others begin their own recovery journeys. Her story reflects the transformative power of running and the community that surrounds it.

Frances is one of many voices we’re highlighting this year as we celebrate 20 years of the Run for Your Life 5K — an event that has inspired thousands to find freedom, purpose, and connection.
