Odyssey House Hosts 19th Annual Run for Your Life, Celebrating Resilience and Recovery

It was another rainy race day, but the energy remained high as Odyssey House employees and clients, program staff and clients from other NYC-based treatment agencies, and supporters came together at Icahn Stadium for the 19th Annual Run for Your Life on September 28, 2024.

WPIX-TV news reporter James Ford emceed the event, which, along with the 5K fun run and 1-mile recovery walk, included carnival games, arts and crafts activities, opioid overdose reversal training (Narcan), and a silent auction. Most of the activities took place in the concourse beneath the stadium, shielding many participants from the rain. Nevertheless, the walk and run unfolded in the open, where Odyssey House’s President and CEO, Dr. Peter Provet, noted that the participants demonstrated their resilience in the face of the elements.

“It’s cloudy,” Dr. Provet said about the day’s conditions, “but we keep going, and that’s the message behind recovery.”
