RFYL Weekly: Getting back to basics

Van Cortlandt half marathon, 11/1/20. Congrats to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th place finishers!

This Saturday, January 9th, participating Manor clients will meet at Jefferson Park on 114th Street and First Avenue. The GRCR clients will meet on the grounds of the GRCR facility (13 Hell Gate Circle, NY, NY 10035). The workout session will commence at 9 am for both workout sites. The weather forecast reports temperatures in the low 40s with sunny skies; please dress accordingly. All participants must actively follow the CDC guidelines at all times: wearing face masks and practicing social distancing at all times.

With a new year comes a classic concept: “getting back to basics.” For people in the Odyssey House “Run for Your Life” program, getting back to basics means exercising and eating healthy. It also means training for upcoming road races to strengthen their physical and mental stamina, which helps to build self-confidence.

Pandemic-related restrictions have given many people a new outlook on exercise, understanding how important it is to do so regularly. When we exercise, it increases blood flow to our major organs, improves circulation, and – most importantly – makes us feel good about ourselves.

Your health is your wealth; therefore, let the confidence you build by eating right and exercising be your guide to taking care of yourself.
