This story is part of our special 20th Anniversary Run for Your Life 5K video series, celebrating two decades of resilience, recovery, and community. Through the voices of Odyssey House alumni, clients, and staff, we’re sharing how running has transformed lives and strengthened the bonds that make recovery possible.

For Keith, running wasn’t just exercise — it was freedom.

“It’s like you’re free. It feels like it’s the greatest thing in the world. The more I ran, the more it gave me clarity and focus on this is the direction my life’s supposed to go. Because when I was getting high, I didn’t have a purpose. Run for Your Life gave me that purpose because I had to show what I was made of.”

Keith, an Odyssey House graduate and proud Run for Your Life alum, discovered strength and clarity through running. What started as a few miles on the road became a turning point — helping him find focus, purpose, and a new direction in life.

Keith’s story is one of many we’re highlighting as we honor 20 years of Run for Your Life. For two decades, this race has brought together clients, alumni, families, and friends to show that recovery is possible — and powerful. Join us on Saturday, September 27 for the 20th Annual Run for Your Life 5K Run & Recovery Walk, and be part of the next chapter in this powerful tradition.
