As we prepare to celebrate the holiday season with our loved ones, we thank you for your generosity and encouragement over the past year. Your support has helped hundreds of New Yorkers in need to achieve a healthy, lasting recovery.
Our 2019 card is by a member of the Odyssey House Art Project. Stephanie P. created “Birds” for “If I Had One Wish,” our 11th art exhibition now on display at the Odyssey House Haven Art Gallery. The treatment of the wish theme brought out a diversity of expression, from the heartfelt and emotional to the funny and outrageous. But the images also work on a deeper level, examining the innate human need to wish and hope for a more optimistic and advantageous future.
Stephanie lives at our Park Avenue supportive housing program. She feels making art is like therapy, helping her overcome sadness and anxiety. She often creates fantastical and nature-inspired paintings, which enhance the soothing and healing qualities of art-making.
