MENTAL HEALTH
If you turned to drugs and alcohol to relieve anxiety or depression, you’re not alone.
In fact, studies have shown that people who struggle with these and other conditions are two to three times more likely to also suffer from drug or alcohol addiction.
Odyssey House’s behavioral health approach to treatment integrates mental health care to help you break this vicious cycle. By treating the underlying causes to your addiction, we can help you to improve your total well-being and achieve a more successful recovery.
BASED ON YOUR NEEDS, YOUR PERSONALIZED TREATMENT PLAN MAY INCLUDE:
Individual and group counseling. Counseling can take a number of forms depending on the type of therapy being used, the goals of the treatment, and other factors in the life of the person receiving therapy.
Psychiatric medications and medication-assisted treatment. In combination with counseling and psychotherapy, psychiatric medications provide significant relief for many clients. They also can help individuals manage symptoms to the point where they can use other strategies to pursue recovery. When appropriate, Odyssey House also uses medication-assisted treatment to help our clients reduce their cravings and manage other withdrawal symptoms.
Coordinating support services. Odyssey House coordinates physical and mental health treatment with housing, employment, education and other vital services. We help our clients navigate complex public systems and multiple service providers, so they can focus on their recovery.
Odyssey House’s integrated approach to behavioral health has not only shown to reduce substance use and improve quality of life for our clients, it also increases housing stability, decreases hospitalization, and reduces public health care costs.
