We offer Early Head Start in two of our on-site classrooms.

Early Head Start services are designed to foster positive attachments between very young children and consistent, responsive caregivers based on the recognition that these relationships are of critical importance to healthy development. They also promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the development of very young children, and promote healthy family functioning.

In New York and nationally, Head Start programs (for children ages 3-5) and Early Head Start programs (for pregnant women, infants, and toddlers) promote school readiness for children in low-income families by providing comprehensive educational, health, nutritional, and social services. Parents play a large role in the programs, both as primary educators of their children and as participants in local programs. Both programs provide pre-literacy and literacy experiences in a multi-cultural environment.

From the beginning, New York’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs have focused on the well-being of the whole child through in-depth nutrition, health, education, and family development services for children.

ADDITIONAL EARLY EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

Childcare Center – We operate five on-site, licensed daycare and preschool classrooms serving children from two months to five years of age. Classrooms operate from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday thru Friday. Evening childcare services are provided from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm Monday thru Friday to allow for parent participation in therapeutic group activities.

The Creative Curriculum, used in each of our five classrooms, balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning, with an emphasis on responding to children’s learning styles and building on their strengths and interests. The Creative Curriculum clearly defines the teacher’s vital role in connecting content, teaching, and learning for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.

The Creative Curriculum incorporates the latest research and best practices and taking the needs of every type of learner into account and helps early childhood programs create a high-quality learning environment that enables every child to become a creative, confident thinker.

Early Intervention is offered through collaboration with Northside Center for Child Development’s Early Intervention Program. All eligible children from birth to three years of age are referred to the Early Intervention Program for an initial screening. Children who are identified with developmental delays in the area(s) of cognitive, communication, adaptive, physical, and/or social-emotional development receive a full evaluation and continued service coordination.
